Titanic and The Love Boat

We just finished watching the second episode of The Love Boat called “Oh, Dale!/The Main Event/A Tasteful Affair.” If anyone wants to see inside the mind of James Cameron, watch that episode. You will hear about Jack Dawson, a not very good conversalist down at the sausage plant – and a sad woman who was left at the altar, who thought the only way out was to throw herself overboard. Luckly for her, John Ritter (the original Jack Dawson), talks her down – but ends up going in after her. If you want to lift some ideas, try the 70s. They lifted plenty on their own!

Nina + Jonathan / 6.9.12 / Old Ranch Country Club

Nina and Jonathan are two of the sweetest people you will ever meet. I remember them first coming to us, all smiles and excitement when they told me what they had planned for their big day! Jonathan has one request of Nina, that she never loose her smile and I have to agree- her smile is infectious and her heart is as big as Yermo where Jonathan is from! Contrary to popular belief that Yermo is a small desert town, that’s just not the case when the entire Mojave desert is at it’s disposal!

Nina and Jonathan got married at Old Ranch Country Club, one of our favorite places to film. It was decorated to the nines, inspired by Nina’s love of ladybugs. Here is the film we made for these two lovebugs! Congrats Nina and Jonathan!

Cynthia + Mitchell / April 28, 2012 / Old Ranch Country Club

This was an awesome day! Cynthia and Mitchell are truly in love, they laugh together and love hanging out with each other. They got married at one of our favorite venues, Old Ranch Country Club. A picture perfect April afternoon. On a side note, it was like hanging out with old friends. It turns out Mitchell went to the same high school David and I did, he was just a few years before us, what a small world. So another Monsoon found true love- Awesome! Their families shaped them into two remarkable people as you will see in the film. Congrats Cynthia and Mitchell, you guys deserve happiness and love for all time!

Judie and BJ / Biltmore and Majestic Halls Wedding / 5.5.12

This wedding was a stellar, fantastic revisit to the days of the Hollywood Golden Age. It is the stuff that Sunset Blvd. was based on – thankfully for Judie and BJ, the ending is happily ever after, riding off into the sunset.

Their wedding began at the vintage 1923 Millennium Biltmore Hotel. Judie had everything planned, from the dress hangers to her dolls’ red tank tops. BJ’s boys, on the other hand, had a different approach in t-shirt style, as you’ll see in the film.

We were joined by the impeccable team of photographers at Callaway Gable, who once being fashion models themselves, knew all the glam poses and are a killer husband and wife team!

Of course orchestrating this entire vintage bash was wedding coordinator Alex Rembac from Sterling Engagements. In keeping with the style, the gorgeous Majestic Halls was the backdrop for the ceremony and reception, which was built in 1921.

Judie and BJ are a remarkable couple, as you will seen in the film. BJ is a sweet southern boy who met up with a hip Los Angeles fashionista. Judie’s dress was in one word – amazing and BJ’s suit looked right out of the cast from Gone with the Wind. In the end it was fab fabulous and an amazing night!

Elain and Andrew / Newport Beach Marriott / 10.30.2011

This wedding was like hanging out with old friends. Elain Tong had come to us in 2007 looking for a wedding videographer for her brother, Darick. He was in San Francisco, so she took over the meeting and greeting of potential vendors for his wedding day. As you might have guessed, they booked us and we had a fabulous time capturing the love on Darick and Nori’s wedding day!

Well, Elain being the smart cookie she is, knew that she had picked the best of the best team for Darick’s wedding, so there was no need to reinvent the wheel! Elain hired the same fabulous vendors once again for her wedding. We were joined by Jon Barber for the photography and Wendy Dhal for the event coordination, which made the day awesome!

Andrew is the perfect fit for Elain, he’s just a great guy. I remember first meeting him at our office and he asked if there was a Five Guys close by, at the time there wasn’t. Nowadays there is, so I think he used his famous logic and easy going style to bring us one! The main thing you can see is that Elain is so happy, she just bubbles whenever he is around and that’s something we love to see, as you shall soon see in the film we made! Congrats to Elain and Andrew and the entire Tong/Kahn family!
